Writing this on roommate's computer, so just a few quick words.....

Went out to do some grocery shopping just now. Before I left I was searching frantically for my cotton grocery bag which my roommate had bought me last week, but couldn't find it anywhere. That was very strange cuz I usually leave it on the desk.....

Then it all came to me..... The day that my laptop was stolen, I left the grocery bag on the shelf above my computer desk..... So the thief must have conveniently used the bag to safely carry out the laptop and pretended that it was only a bag of grocery.....

Somehow this is quite amusing..... well, in some way =v=
And my roommate was like "holy crap so I kinda contributed to the theft eh? even though the bag was only worth 99 cents orz"

Man, all I can say is..... What a week||||| Now I'm officially a very experienced person: had a credit card fraud 1 month after getting the new card and only used it once at a grocery store; laptop mysteriously stolen; almost got run over by a car on the 1st day of biking in Ottawa; and fell down the bike in the middle of the busiest street in Downtown Waterloo (and still have the scars on the knee even after 1.5 months).....

Note: PITA = Pain In The Ass =v=

Anyways. Spent the entire past two days (at work orz) finding a new computer. I have made the decision to get a desktop this time, and already found one that most suited my needs and budget. But turns out that finding the PC is not at all the most time-consuming part. Of the 20+ hours, 90% of the time was spent on researching how to get rid of VISTA and clean-install a fresh copy of XP = =

( Now onto the long rambling = = )

Anyhow, still doing research so any help will be greatly appreciated (esp if any of you lovelies have either done this yourself or know someone who has changed VISTA to XP T T) Thnx minna!

Well, kinda should say, the weirdest day ever.....
I came back from work and job hunting at around 7pm, and laptop was gone (aka stolen orz).....
Everything else's the way it was before I left this morning, even the outlet plug transformer was there.....

OMG.....

Anyways. Will write about more details (if any) tomorrow when I get onto my office computer..... For now, need some time for this to sink in..... Very complicated situation around here, very.....

But no worries minna, I'm OK, at least they landlord's nice and so are the other 3 girls.....

Quick Updates
Getting a new laptop for sure cuz now it's back-to-school sales everywhere orz
Need some help on how to get rid of VISTA since nowadays all new laptops come with VISTA..... I do have a copy of XP Pro Service Pack 2, fully licensed from the university (student copy), thus NOT a retail copy..... Just did some search on the net, and apparently clean-install a non-retail copy of XP (even if it's licensed and "genuine") will create compatibility issues on new laptops that come with VISTA <--especially on the system drivers.....

Any suggestions minna? T T

Or, is VISTA really as bad as what I've remembered? If any of you are running on VISTA right now, please tell me how you think, esp 3-party software compatibility-wise (things like Flashget, Media Player Classic, and of course, games =v=)

I'll also think about getting a desktop instead (that doesn't come with pre-installed OS). With LCD nowadays it's not that hard to move desktops around even if I have to move every 4 months.....|||||

Datawise..... Good thing I just re-installed XP at end of Aug so most of my data have been backed-up..... So as far as I can remember these are the things that I lost along with the laptop:
- ALL of the new August drama CDs..... (crap!)
- Most of the radio shows I've collected (since I usu wait till a show is finished to burn them orz)
- Some anime series I've been following (this is not a problem at all)
- Small amount of seiyuu videos (only problem is that I can't remember what I downloaded after the re-installation orz)
- 1 game (by Ritz) that nan-chan gave me the link of =v=

Now comes the worst part:
- All of the address/phone number/birthdays of my LJ friends that I've collected so far T T
- All of my firefox bookmarks (damn i should have made a backup! shit!)
- ALL i mean ALL of the wataru photos i've collected T T

In a way I'm lucky that most data are still here and I didn't lose any of my ID but.... Might need help from a lot of you in the next few weeks ><

It's so sad that now after almost 2 weeks of absolutely no computer or internet, it feels kinda weird to even sit down and type..... =v=
